If I knew chess better I would have maybe done a more clever joke like that with Twilight feeling like she’s winning and Pinkie secretly being a genius. But yeah, for this I just got things mixed up in my brain. The source is updated to better emphasize Pinkie is winning by piece advantage.

In chess, material (or piece advantage) its only 1 of the factors that determine who is winning. King safety and piece activity are as important as material. Maybe ponk has mate in 2 and twily is unsuccessfully trying to avoid it.
