I still think that they are. Sure, they might not be the most expensive actors they could have chosen, but I definitely think that the cast currently being used costs far less than the movie cast. That’s what I am getting at here.

True, but you’re also comparing the budget of a movie to that of a TV show as well. Not a fair comparison to make, and one would expect movie actors to cost more than TV actors.

Sonic Prime wasn’t produced by Hasbro. That was Sega. Completely different rules apply with that company.

Yeah, a number of them were very well known. Vanessa Hudgens is especially well known for her role in other productions, most notably High School Musical for Disney. James Marsden, the voice of Hitch, was literally Cyclops in the X-Men series, one of the most well known superhero franchises of all time. He was also in both Sonic and Sonic 2. Kimiko Glenn, the VA of Izzy, was in Orange is the New Black and Bojack Horseman. Need I say more?

Sonic prime was also produced in Canada and has a new cast that game actors are not expensive

No need to rephrase myself, but laws don’t matter for studios not in Canada. All of this revolves around cost: making the series using a Canadian studio using a lesser known cast was a lot more cost effective than using the Hasbro-owned Irish studio in the end. And honestly, even if Hasbro did have Boulder Media make G5, chances are the cast would have still changed due to budgetary constraints.

You are clearly ignoring the cost issue of hiring such expensive actors, though. Sure, there are Canadian laws, but if Hasbro wanted to they could have easily gotten around that by using their own animation studio, Boulder Media, to make the series instead. No, cost was a big reason for the decision, and it was the main reason for Hasbro to go with a third-party animation studio in Canada as well instead of using the same Irish studio that made the movie.

Nope, the Make your Mark special didn’t have the movie VAs. Frankly, I think the movie VAs won’t appear again for any other MLP project.
Also, laws aren’t the reason why the original movie voice actors won’t return. The biggest reason why they won’t return is because they are simply far too expensive to hire. You see, the movie had a pretty substantial budget, largely due to Hasbro initially planning to release that in theaters. As such, they could afford to hire A-list actors, ones that had been involved in many other acting projects for other films in the past, for the film. But that was meant to be the only time they used that cast. For all other G5 projects, they would use cheaper VAs that would imitate the original VAs to the best of their abilities.

Well, even so, these are the voice actors who have been portraying the characters for the past several months now, going back to the first episode of Tell your Tale and including the Make your Mark special and the a Maretime Bay Adventure videogame. So they aren’t exactly ‘new’ to their roles at this point.
