These ponies are pretty much humans trapped inside the bodies of ponies. If humans and Equestrians were to live together in an integrated society, inter-species relationships are pretty much guaranteed… Weird as it would seem…
 
In any case, I’ve always found the idea of an integrated multi-species civilization interesting.

It’s entirely typical for inter-species relationships in a ton of games. Usually they talk about Mass Effect but there was a lot of it among characters in Oblivion too - I’m sure there was some earlier stuff too. And then Shining Force has centaur shipping - I’m sure they can push it a bit more since apparently elves get with lizard people sometimes.

In the broad context of living beings, sentience refers to anything capable of perceiving sensations and subjectivity, which includes most, if not all, animals. Sapience is being capable of complex thought processes, ethics, and judgement.

2nd paragraph: also there’s the fact that in Equestria, ponies would be the dominant race/life form so the bestiality thing would perhaps be reversed with humans being the ‘animal’ part of the equation.
 
3rd paragraph: agree completely. They’re cute, and it would be cool to meet some of them in real life and become friends with them, but saying I’d want to do it with one is too far.

I’d never be so crass as to call such a thing “bestiality,” of course. Equestrians are clearly persons in the moral and legal sense, deserving of all the same rights and freedoms as any human. That includes the right to be physically intimate with other persons, as long as there’s informed consent on all sides. So if Dash wants to hook up with some other human and that human wants to hook up with Dash, hey, go nuts.
 
But personally, I can’t do it. It’s not how I’m wired. I can’t be attracted to a pony any more than I can be attracted to a dude or to my own mother. Even Twilight Sparkle, whom I love dearly, doesn’t turn me on.

The word is “sentient”, not “sapient”. Sapient means wise or sage-like (as an adjective, at least).

Having a relationship with a pony was never an issue for me; in fact I use that same example from Mass Effect whenever people accuse me of being a zoophile.
