That is her way of showing kindness. Kindness can be shown in many different ways. Sometimes risking your own life to save the other’s is kindness. I’m super proud of Fluttershy for taking actions and working up the courage to save a dear friend’s life. I’m also so glad Fluttershy is more than just the passive “being gentle and kind to everything on Earth” but that she is also “going on an adventure because she cares for others.” There are more than one aspect to her that make me love her more and more. Fluttershy is the best!
Even as much as I love Fluttershy, I never thought of her that way. I always saw her as a pony who always tried to exhibit kindness to everyone, even if they aren’t kind to her in return. It’s something that I want to emulate in myself.

But in that episode Fluttershy was a devoted hero. She cared a lot about Zecora, so much so she’d tire herself out to save her. Every time Fluttershy is in an episode, she is always the best of herself, even if she has to sacrifice her own health or safety. That’s why she’s the best. <3
I never liked that swamp fever episode myself. It always left me heartbroken seeing Fluttershy like that.
I didn’t know she caught swamp fever right there already. I thought she was only tired. Poor Fluttershy. :(
For some people it can be fun to think about. Sure, it doesn’t matter much to the stories of either FiM or the G5 shows, but for some people (including myself) imagining how events in Equestria came about can be quite fun.
There is an easy answer:
“What does it matter” and “who cares”?
What I want to get is that in almost any other series all this was simplified or this scene did not exist making a cut to the next
If that ends up being the case, that the unicorns tried to keep down other races, then the fact that the other races revolted (which led to the loss of magic in G5) ends up making a lot of sense-the unicorns saw themselves as being superior to every other species (see Filthy Rich) and the other races ended up resenting that. Push came to shove, and war ended up breaking out in Equestria, with the unicorns being forced out into the forest.
The show unfortunately hasn’t been the best at actually taking a horse society to its logical conclusions. Sometimes the stuff is ergonomic (see the typewriters in “Ponyville Confidential”) and others, well you get this.
Hmm..I actually like that idea a lot.
There was a fan comic exploring that idea early in the fandom, with Lyra coming to the conclusion that
Equestria is a post-apocalyptic Earth and they “inherited a world we didn’t make.“
The artist pulled all their pony stuff offline, though.
This actually brings up another question: why do pony doors have knobs in the first place? I know unicorns can use magic in place of hands, as shown by Twilight opening the door here, but not all ponies have that (in fact, most ponies don’t have that ability). Considering hooves are terrible for grasping objects, I would think that houses in Ponyville would have different ways to open a door (such as using a sliding lock) that is better suited for Earth pony usage.
Edited
Didn’t work the knob first.
