Krystal Pool
having problems with her coat color, but that’ll have to do. and i don’t really like the skirt choice, but let’s make it work.
Krystal is a refined earth pony from Dodge City. Although born to a family of rodeo ponies, she took a different path from the more “proper” ladies at the top of the town, determined from a young age to become high class. The posh were posh, and snubbed the uncouth and rude, something that Krystal could never really be, and it was quite discouraging to her dreams. By the time she had earned her cutie mark, she had a two year streak of beauty pageant wins, and although it raised her popularity, she wasn’t satisfied with how she had risen. After school, instead of jumping fences or racing around, she found herself making friends with troubled ponies who weren’t children but not quite adults. With her talent of helping others see their inner beauty, she briefly started a club called Confidence, which later grew after she finished school and moved past that part of her life. Leaving a good impression on the youth, she began to accompany her parents to the local saloon since she was now of age to go. The saloon left a sour note in her life, a place where she experimented with herself and others in activities she would’ve never done sober. After a year of lowliness, she left Dodge City on a retreat to cleanse herself, once again aiming to become high class. She came upon a small and young village in the shadow of the great city of Canterlot, and decided to stay for a short while since it wasn’t too big. Taking therapy and work on a growing apple farm, Krystal again began to dream about living a rich life away from her so-called dirty beginning. During her time on that apple farm, and making friends with the owners, she developed a taste for farm life, becoming quite friendly, hard-working, spending long hours cooking, and then talking away into the night with friends, with no rush or pressure to be a certain way.
Krystal became well-liked in the young village, and was often greeted by name on the roads around the developing town. It was in this village she first married a farmhand named Bolt Greyhammer, a young stallion who often volunteered both on the apple farm and in various construction projects around the village. Unfortunately, after the birth of their son, Notch, Bolt was injured in a construction accident, and never woke up when he lay for a rest. The residents tried their best to comfort her, but Krystal stayed in mourning for a few years, only showing life to her precious son.
When her son began to experience problems when he started school, Krystal returned to using her talent, similar to how she would comfort the ponies at her old school. Returning to her old self, she began counseling at the school, in both self-esteem and bullying. As her old spark returned, so did calling suitors. A year later, she had found a new husband, Stone Stronghoof. She was nervous that he also often worked in construction, but he convinced her that nothing bad would happen to him. Aside from construction, he made good money from his family’s wheat farm that he visited up north every few months. For now, Krystal had a stable home with enough money to live comfortably, not what she dreamed up, but it was a start. Over the next few years, they celebrated the births of their two daughters and a son, named Sandy, Cherry Bloom, and Shade.
Recently, the family started to suffer financially, as Stone’s family farm was bought out by a bigger company, leaving him without work, as there wasn’t much for him to do in the village. Taking a risk, he left for Canterlot in an attempt to find work, and he must’ve found something, as now he sent for his family to pack their belongings and to meet him in Canterlot for a “fresh start”.
