Yes, I really want to say that there are more ponies and MLP was still produced after the Season 4 Finale.
As for you checking it out, I would recommend it, it has some pretty great episodes but keep in mind that the quality does go down in some parts.

Agreed, especially on Izzy.
In the movie, she was a bit kooky and hyper, but she was aware of others, competent and reasonably intelligent, and didn’t just endlessly screw things up.
TYT Izzy is just an even worse version of Pinkie; a burden on others that we are expected to love because she’s overly happy yet fragile. Such a person in real life is totally draining to be around.

For me, TYT landed flat from the get-go. It’s superficial but the low budget 3D route they took is too much of a distraction. Compared to the G5 movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed, the visuals in the series feels a decade or two out of date. I eventually put it down after the low-res villain reveal.

S5 was the high point of FiM. There were a few standout episodes after that, but IMO the quality gradually declined as the writers seemed to bring in more and more side characters and the stories got more mediocre.

I’ll keep from going into a TYT rant on this otherwise nice comment section and just give my main reason: I just find the characters less interesting in it. Zipp is generally well-written, but Hitch is practically a different character, Sunny isn’t much more than the straight man, and Izzy is just annoying. (That one is especially a shame since she was my favorite in the movie)
It has its moments, though. I liked the recent episode.
But then again, you’re the moderator, so maybe your words are gospel in this community.

The later seasons of G4 tend to be hit-or-miss, and I found the G5 movie to be decently good.
The only way to be sure is to see for yourself though.

I can definitely in good faith call TyT ‘good’. It has a lot of memorable moments in it, and did a really good job of building up characters even if the episodes are really short in length.

G5 movie is pretty solid, I’d give it a watch. I can’t in good faith call the TYT series “good”, but if you need that poni fix, it does it’s job.
