No. Trying to suggest that the only reason for success is because “hE gOt LuCkY SpAmMiNg ThE FrOnT PaGe”, is ludicrous. If you want to use statistics as an argument for what makes a “serious writer who knows their stuff” like you did earlier, then you can’t only consider the stats valid when it’s convenient for you. What I mean by this is you can’t say “look how high this dudes ranked, that’s not an accident” and then go on to say Clops success and rank is an accident. It’s fine if you personally don’t like his work, but don’t pretend that he is an incapable writer. His world building and and clop is far from cookie cutter. And to suggest his success is because he wrote about an oc is a pretty weak argument, there were plenty of people who wrote about that oc and didn’t get nearly as far as him, if that’s all it takes then surely other writers would be just as successful?. But thanks for telling me the rules on what’s allowed to be classified as “serious writing” I’ll be sure to relay the restrictions to him so he knows in the future. smh

I see. Whinging makes nobody look good. Enough about him.

Playing Devil’s advocate for a sec and I got a question for you.

DA: One thing you don’t likely know because you don’t write is that there are two ways to the top fast. 1. Clop. 2. Regular updates. 3. Feature box.
If Clops spams chapters and camps the box, the following not as impressive as you’re making it out to be. Nobody considers Regidar, King of Squirrels or Some Leech to be great writers despite them all using more or less that strategy and having thousands of followers. Now someone like Bad Horse, who does it all with serious stories, now that is truly impressive. I tried for a year to be a serious writer. I have up because people just weren’t buying.

Q: Now, if you would be so kind, what about Clops’s stuff is so great? To me he is just another porn writer who got lucky with spamming the front page. Not the first, not the last. He got lucky and latched into a popular OC. It’s not exactly bad porn, but it’s cookie-cutter as hell and the writing is pure fanfic schlock with written-out SFX, links to pages, and punctuates with all caps and asterisks, markup bold and italics thrown about casual in a way no serious author ever would. What’s the charm?

I’m kinda out of the loop. Thanks if it’s not too much.

Not really much of a party, just some man child having a little internet temper tantrum. Unfortunately you lack context for what I meant by “taking him seriously”. I was talking about the completely pathetic breakdown he had in the comments, pulling random accusations and assumptions out of his ass. His pointless rage was not to be taken seriously. Now regardless of what I meant, the writer you are defending has directly attacked a far far far more successful author, one that has only been in the game for 3 years and is in the top 20 on fimfiction, with well over double the amount of followers. While he himself has been writing since 2012, with very minor, if at all any improvements in his compositions over the last 8 years. You can attempt to make it sound impressive that he is ranked so highly in comparison to thousands and thousands of inactive users, but the truth is he is a mediocre at best writer that gets about a couple hundred reads per story, if hes lucky. Now compared to his follower count you were inclined to point out, that’s roughly 20% of his followers that still pay him any attention. So to answer your question, no odds are he does not have a point.

I think Iwatchfottheplot meant that nobody takes him seriously on his hot takes on what he deems are “shitty writers/artists”.

One can write popular fics but still act like an ass about it. Popular works and a less than stellar personality are not mutually exclusive, and fimfic isn’t short on those kinds of writers. Especially on clopfics.

IDK about that. Dude’s ranked 345th out of several hundred thousand users and has 874 followers. That ain’t no accident. I don’t know him, but clearly he knows his stuff as a serious writer. DBooru doesn’t like off topic talking, so I’ll just leave if he’s got a point about writing, odds are the dude has a point?
