Martinet was in the movie too though, (in several cameo roles) and we already discussed below why Martinet voicing Mario for a full movie just... Wouldn't work.
And it's funny, because Tara was in old Mario cartoons where Mario sounded different long before Martinet became the "official Mario game voice." She didn't mind that.
Martinet did a good job in his cameo roles, including ||The Mario Brothers' father. I was not expecting to see their family in the movie. It's nice they're flaeshing them out a bit.||
