I’ve drawn these characters and studied the original 3D style, I knew there were fundamental differences.

Namely, the nose is half the size, the muzzle is more contour, and the facial structure is thinner with the volume of cheeks pulled down rather than stretched horizontally. The eyes are in the same place but they’re slightly bigger, creating that more anime-esque facial design. Neck is also slightly thinner with a more hourglass shape. Subtle, but greatly improved design; the 3D versions just look a little too dopey in still shots (animated with as much fluid motion, the design choices look better, but I still question the end result). They’d look better with these shape changes by the artist.

WRONG! This is the exact same style as the 3D show designs, just done in 2D (and with remarkable faithfulness, I must say).

I really like the show designs, at least when it comes to the CGI series. So I find your comment offensive. The art is really good, though. I will always love a nice Sunny drawing.

Something about this looks better than the original concept and actual 3D pony style from the show, but I can’t put my wing on it.
