Yes, this would be the 88888th image stored in the database, assuming no images under this one are merged forward. It is however the 98406th image uploaded (successfully) to the site, and IDed as 98405.
 
For the same of simplicity, we still celebrate gets the old fashioned way.

interesting to note, but after removing dupes/spam posts from the total this is technically image 88888
