I think it comes from even earlier than the Venom movie, i think it started to be a thing after Spider-man 3. People started to make things be a bit weird at first but now are common, like body shape changes and a bit of over the energy desire for mating

Yes, it looks like it. I think this is due to the release of Venom on the movie screens. As well as the very concept of a living suit, which gives the wearer great opportunities, and in return receives only … the body and mind of the owner.
