That could simply be because the Changlings are black creatures and the artist does simply not interpret any of the Mane 6 as black. Luna is black as well though so it’s not like everybody but the Changlings are in the skin tone range.

Admittedly the best conversion of this set.  
Pretty much the only complaint would be the beam seemingly ending before hitting but it can be argued by the possible dynamic of the beam itself.
