A magnificent orb of magic, mixed with different shades of blue and gold surrounded the red alicorn. She began to feel stronger, physically and mentally. The splitting spell had been mixed with a healing spell. Stardust looked over at princess Celestia with a grateful smile as her wings and leg fully healed as if nothing ever happened. She gave her wings a test flap as the princesses magic lifted them into the air.

Cadence turned to celestia and luna, all 3 princesses still firing their magic at the red alicorn. They gave each other an affirmative nod and took flight, focusing extra magic into the already steadily growing orb. Stardust looked down at herself, as a glowing white line began to form right down the middle of her body, following it down her chest, she began to feel a strange pulling sensation on her right hand side, making her cringe a little bit.

After opening her eyes, still in the orb, she locked eyes with her evil counterpart: Blacknight.
The spell worked! The princesses had successfully split the 2 alicorns into their own bodies!
The orb slowly vanished and the 3 princesses lowered stardust and blacknight to the ground.

The pair looked at each other in bewilderment, as they mirroried each other’s movements. Circling around each other and keeping their eyes locked on one another.
“Uh… Hi?” Blacknight was the first to speak up, before looking down at herself, and opening her wings to get a good look at them.

“Hello.” Stardust responded, tilting her head as Blacknight looked down at herself, looking just as shocked as the grey and purple alicorn before her.

“The spell was a success! Now, there’s one last step to do, my pupil.” Luna spoke up, as she approached Stardust. The moon princess touched her horn to Stardust’s, igniting it and allowing Stardust to have her magic back, being able to successfully bring her back to her old self, almost like nothing ever happened.

“Ok, that’s sweet n’ all, but how are we going to stand up to twilight? She’s become the most powerful alicorn alive, absorbing Stardust’s original magic and combining it with her own.” Blacknight spoke up, causing Cadence, Celestia and Luna to look at eachother with concern. Blacknight was right, they couldn’t stand up to Twilight in their current magical state.

“Ill tell you what we’re gonna do!” Cadence spoke up, breaking the silence between the 5 alicorns.
“We’re going to work together, as much as I care about twilight, what she did was completely out of line.. Not just that, but it was cruel. That’s not what a ruler is. A ruler is fair, and compassionate about their kingdom.”

Stardust nodded in agreement.
“But what do we do?”

“We stand up to twilight, just like you said Blacknight. But we’ll work together, as a team, twilight can’t take on 5 alicorns at once.” Luna spoke up.

“Princess.. As much as I appreciate you wanting to keep Stardust safe, this is HER fight. And I suppose it is mine as well. I didn’t appreciate what Twilight did to Stardust, as much as she gets on my nerves. She’s lived with me all her life, and I’ve been in her shoes. If we’re going to defeat twilight, me and stardust must do it alone…” Blacknight explained, putting a hoof on Stardust’s shoulder.
The red alicorn smiled softly as her counterpart, she was right, again, she would like to battle twilight with blacknight, alone.

Celestia gave a nod and turned to Shining armour who was standing behind the group, who nodded. Shining armour’s horn then lit up briefly, summoning a large purple chest, with golden accents, with a strange logo on the back of it. It was a star, a golden star, with a thick, black outline.
“One thing’s for certain, you can’t go to Ponyville looking like that, this can be your chance to show who you really are, to the citizens out there. It’s time…”

The 2 alicorns’ eyes widened as they opened the chest, princess armour. Light grey, star shaped armour for Stardust, and strange, smoke shaped armour for Blacknight.
“Are we going to be able to go outside?” Stardust asked.

A few days had passed since Stardust and blacknight arrived at the Crystal empire, and celestia was now calling a meeting for the 5 alicorn in the throne room.
Stardust and blacknight were the last ones to arrive. They were wearing their princess armour.

Stardust’s armour was a stainless, light grey set of shoes, each one having a star on the front of them. She was also wearing a chest piece that had another large star on the front of it with a darker grey accent on the tips of the star’s arms. All finished with a crown that had a mini star in the middle of it, that sat comfortably behind her curved horn.

BlackNight’s armour was slightly darker in colour, with shoes that had majestic weaves on them, going up her forehooves. She had a somewhat plain chestpiece, accented with a singular red gem in the middle of it. She also had a crown, it was spiked, 2 spikes on each side of a much taller spike in the middle, it too had a red gem in the middle.
Blacknight also had a small horn accessory. A thick horn ring with a red gem hanging from it with a small, black chain.

“You both look amazing, I hope they fit alright, we had Rarity make them especially for the 2 of you. We were going to deliver them a long time ago, but we never heard from you and thought you were both busy.” Luna explained, her ears folding back as she remembered all the scrolls they had sent.
Spike must have kept a hold of them.

“Ok, so we need you both to begin your trip back to ponyville, but we don’t want you to be hidden anymore, we want you both to be recognised as new princesses. Stardust, you will keep your role as Princess of the Stars. Blacknight, you will be known as Princess of the void. Yes, a very intimidating title, but I assure you it will be a fulfilling role. See you will be in charge of overseeing the prisoners of Tartarus, as well as creating new prisons for any attackers of equestria, and making sure anyone who is banished stays that way.”
Cadence explained, with celestia and luna nodding in the background. Blacknight gave a toothy grin and accepted the role with a hefty bow.
With that, they began planning.

The sun was beginning to rise over the horizon of the Crystal Empire, small rainbows bounced around in the air as the sun’s rays caressed the surface of the kingdom.
But the air was tense, and unusual, full of whispers and worry as Stardust and Blacknight made their way through the empire.
The 2 alicorns walked side by side, looking around at everyone as they all glanced at the pair, some looking worried and backing away into their homes.
Not the best start to being seen as the new princesses, but it was something.

“Lets just hope Canterlot will be as quiet as this… I don’t think I can handle a sudden uproar about us.” Blacknight stated, looking a bit concerned. Her ears were folding back as she looked at all the frightened ponies.

“I know what you mean… If twilight is warned before we arrive, then who knows what will happen.” Stardust responded in a somewhat hushed voice.
The 2 alicorns made their way to the train station, waiting for the next train to Canterlot, as they were unable to fly through the storm at the time, wanting to conserve their magic in case Twilight tried anything.

On the train, ponies began to slowly pile out of the carriage the 2 alicorns sat in, all except for 1 single pony. It was applebloom, and it looked like she was going through the files for the school of friendship! Since she began teaching there, she has always been so busy, but what was she doing on the train?
The yellow farm pony looked up from her work with a sigh, and noticed the 2 alicorns looking over at her. She waved and decided to walk over, sitting opposite the 2.

“Howdy! You 2 seem new around, alicorns too huh? Has there beena new kingdom made?” The yellow pony asked, causing the 2 of them to begin giggling at the question

“No dear, we’re on our way to Canterlot, we need to visit Princess Twilight.” Stardust explained.
With the tension eased, the 3 began chatting as the train neared Canterlot train station.
The train soon came to a halt on Stardust’s news home town, having grown up here under Princess Luna’s teachings. With twilight in charge, things have gone a lot more sour. Lets hope this confrontation can fix that….

The 2 alicorns exited the carriage with Applebloom, who waved goodbye to the pair as she made her way off of the platform and into town.
This seemed to have eased the already building tension of the station, as the 2 exited and made their way through town.
The streets were soon filled with silence, distant whispers and soft, nervous squeals as the alicorns made their way to the majestic site that was Twilight’s castle.

BlackNight and Stardust looked up at the castle, their ears folding back as they looked up at its magnificence, sparkling in the sunlight as they approached. It may be beautiful on the outside, but on the inside, carnage was about to take place…

“Here, I’ll knock, Spike normally answers,” Stardust explained as she approached the door, knocking it gently.

After a few moments, the door began to unlock, and the fully grown, purple dragon could be seen in the doorway. His face turned from greeting to shock, as he saw the 2 alicorns in the doorway. Looking around, Spike immediately grabbed the 2 alicorns and pulled them inside. Spike then shut the door and flew into one of the many towers that Canterlot castle owned, putting the pair on the ground as he closed all the doors and curtains, turning on the light in the room.

“What are you 2 doing here?! I thought Twilight banished you!” Spike asked with a rather frantic tone.
Blacknight Stepped forward, locking eyes with the dragon.
“She did. I managed to help her escape and for the last week or so we’ve been getting our strength back and planning how to stand up to twilight. Luna. Celestia and Cadance managed to separate us into our own bodies, and we’re here to teach the “princess of friendship” a few lessons…” Blacknight explained, emphasising twilight’s royal title as she grimaced.

The purple dragon nodded slowly as he listened, allowing Blacknight and Stardust to explain everything and get him caught up.
“Well. I’m happy to help if you need it. I don’t agree at all with what Twilight did. But because i’m not magic, i couldn’t exactly come and check in on you. I sincerely apologise Stardust.” Spike explained, his wings drooping in guilt as he did so.

The red alicorn simply hugged Spike and smiled.
“Where’s twilight now? We can try to talk to her there.”

Spike told them that Twilight was currently in the throne room, and gave them direction from this room. After a quick thankyou and another hug, the 2 alicorns made their way to Twilight’s location. Looking at each other with determination, a battle was going to commence…

A loud bang, a flash of pink and red, and a large cloud of smoke.
Stardust and Blacknight made their way into the throne room, breaking down the door and locking eyes with the Princess of friendship.

“What are you doing back here?! I banished you to the abandoned tunnels of the castle! And how are you 2 separate! A separation spell isn’t possible!” Twilight exclaimed, standing up from her seat and immediately getting into a defensive position.

“I knew you’d say that princess… Which is why we think you need a lesson or 2. Not just on more advanced spells. But also on how to be an effective ruler…” Blacknight spoke up, her horn igniting along with Stardust’s.
Twilight immediately took flight, hovering over Stardust and Blacknight.
All 3 of their horns ignited, and they fired at each other…
