Well, you know, this changes a lot of things. I could say something like “Well he could’ve let us know” but I have no idea of his state of mind at the time.

Self-criticism is really what drives an artist toward self-improvement and is a necessary evil, but too much can undermine the artist. I know too many artists like that. :/
I think he closed his (her?) account. Something about not feeling like the art was good enough and occasionally doing something like this before.
