The 80s movie is technically not based on a My Little Pony cartoon because the movie is set after the first two G1 specials but before the G1 cartoon. The 2017 movie is the only My Little Pony movie to be based on and set during tv show. Yes. Hasbro had made three movies based on and set during tv shows made by Hasbro. The Transformers movie (1986), the G.I. Joe movie (1987), and the My Little Pony movie (2017).

Well, the Mane Six would have used the Elements of Harmony to defeat the Storm !ing and his army. And Celestia would have told the Mane Six including Twilight instead of Luna to get the Elements to defeat the Storm King and his henchmen Tempest and Grubber, and his minions. Of course, instead of getting the Elements of Harmony, they go south beyond Equestria and they forgot to collect the Elements of Harmony along the way. Nor when they come back to Equestria with their new friends they turn to help.

I thought it was good, except for the oh-so predictable part where Twilight tries to steal the pearl from the hippogriffs. Honestly, I had thought that she had matured more than that, and was hoping that she was just going to plot out their next move, instead of backsliding her character development and make enemies of their new friends.

Wanna feel REALLY nostalgic? Watch the 80s movie.

Just rewatched it. I still stand by my words: This movie is a jolly great time! Feeling fairly nostalgic now.

In my headcanon, Applejack and Fluttershy were integral to getting them out of Equestria and to the southern desert without being detected by roving patrols, but that part was cut for time. In my headcanon.
