Halley Lightspeed Comet is Twilight Sparkle’s firstborn, born a bastard son from a fling with Flash Sentry. With no magical prowess but a knack for knowledge, Halley was raised with intentions of leading his mother’s royal guard; however, he is currently missing, after escaping imprisonment for his crimes against Equestria.

Occupation: Enemy of the Kingdom of Equestria. Was training to be a knight, but has had his title rebuked due to recent political acts.
Talent: If you ask him, he’ll say “I make ponies smile!” His real talent is actually Emotional Manipulation. He’s a sweet-talker and knows how to get what he wants.

Background & Personality:

• Halley was conceived after a party full of drunken shenanigans, not at all planned. Though he wasn’t an unwelcome surprise: both of his parents were happy when they realized Twilight was expecting, and were willing to co-parent together, even though they weren’t romantically compatible.
• The small pegasi was born in the late evenings after a celebration of the passing of a famous comet (his namesake). Twilight had no difficulty with the birth, though she worried how frail he seemed at the time. (Flash said he’d grow in no time.)
• Halley did stay on the smaller side growing up, but he wasn’t weak by any means. He spent a lot of time playing sports and was quite gifted at them! Though, upon realizing he wouldn’t get his cutie mark from sports, he didn’t play as often.
• In his tween years, he started to study more, trying to practice any kind of magic he could (despite the lack of a horn). He wanted to be a good prince for his mother, but something in him changed in the years he was studying under her. He never produced magic, never got a cutie mark for anything studious.
• After not really finding a true talent for knowledge, he started studying to be a knight in his teenage years. His father had become one when he was young, and so Halley believed he could do the same. Though, when he was 16, everything changed
• Halley at age 16 had a mental breakdown. Years of trying for his cutie mark, for a chance to be as grand as his mother or as noble as his father, and years of listening to comments about how he wasn’t as gifted, it was such a shame. It all caught up to him, and he attacked the Crown Prince of Equestria, Wishful Thinking, destroying the unicorn’s horn in the process. Adding insult to injury, it earned him his cutie mark, revealing what his true gift really was.
• He was imprisoned for about a year after this awaiting trial, but somehow he escape into the night, and hasn’t been seen in Equestria since.
• On the surface, Halley is a sweet and friendly stallion. He’ll make light jabs at you, but nothing too serious. However, the more you get to know him, the worse he is. He’s a bit snobbish, full of himself, and if you give him any reason to not like you? He will hold a grudge and make sure you know he doesn’t like you. There’s only a few select ponies he’s not a jerk to, and in these instances, he’s just a quiet book nerd.

Relationships:

• Twilight Sparkle: One of the few ponies he’s not cruel to. He was a big Mama’s Boy, but over time grew distant from her when he started to feel inferior. Even now he can’t bring himself to lash out at her, he just avoids her entirely (which is much worse in her eyes). Since his crime, he hasn’t spoken to his mother.
• Flash Sentry: Halley isn’t as close to his father, but he’s talked to him more than Twilight in recent times. Their personalities are very similar, and Halley was under Flash’s wing up until recently. They haven’t spoken since a big fight before Halley left, when Halley had visitation rights and lashed out at Flash.
• Plutonium: He’s never been close with his half-sister, she was born when he was staying with Flash to train as a knight. Any interaction they had was blunt or almost rude (his feelings to Tirek are why).
• Tirek: Halley wants nothing to do with him, especially after he found out Twilight and Tirek were together. Thinks Tirek took his mother away from him, and so stays as distant as possible.
• Flurry Heart: The other pony he can’t bring himself to be cruel to. They grew up together, and Flurry was like a big sister to him. He still looks up to her, though he’d never admit it aloud.

Trivia:

• His favorite sport is track and acrobatics: Halley is flexible and damn good at flying tricks.
• Big book nerd, loves to read like his mom. Though, he prefers math over the arcane, and studied a lot of physics as a tween.
• Very fluffy, even for a pegasi. If he’s mad he becomes a very angry puffball.
