Is it? Just out of curiosity, do you have a link to the relevant law?

I just ask because sometimes I see people say that the FCC has control over what sort of content airs on basic cable in the US, which is factually untrue. The FCC only has jurisdiction over broadcast (aka over-the-air) television. It’s really just each individual channel trying to determine what will allow them to sell space to the most advertisers, and to implement policies that they hope will have that effect.

For instance, season 1 (and the season 2 premiere) of FiM were rated as E/I (educational and informative), even though, as a cable channel, there was no need for the Hub to meet the FCC-mandated E/I content requirement placed upon broadcast channels. The whole E/I thing was a carryover from Discovery Kids (no other cable channel geared towards children did that), and indeed, FiM stopped having that designation with Lesson Zero.

In fact, having looked it up out of curiosity, it seems the only FCC regulations that cable networks are even tangentially subjected to are the ones restricting advertising alongside kids shows, and even then, that’s enforced by the FTC, as cable channels are completely outside the FCC’s jurisdiction.

That was just an example of statements that I see online that I have questioned the veracity of.

So again, sorry to be skeptical, but whenever I see a statement like that, I get curious to get sourcing on it, just to verify.

Nope… One of the actors in the recurring cast was arrested for pedophilia and, because of that, all episodes featuring his character were pulled from circulation (including the series’ premiere) and half of the final season had to be re-recorded.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it has a main character who is gay perhaps…

I dunno if it’s actual laws or things that the main Canadian actors’ union (ACTRA) worked out with the studios?

Or maybe it has to do with that law that a certain amount of televised content in Canada had to be Canadian-produced - especially since an amendment was just passed that applies that requirement to OTT streamers, such as Netflix, as well, as previously, they had been exempt. And I’m guessing a certain percentage of voice actors for a work have to be Canadian (IIRC, dubs of anime produced at Ocean Studios in Vancouver were counted as Canadian-produced, so they had an easier time getting aired on Canadian TV).

Heck, it could’ve started out as a union contract sort of thing, but now Netflix is interested in keeping it that way as well so it can qualify towards the “Canadian-produced” requirement. Since I don’t know anything further, this is just speculation on my part.

They probably have more wiggle room than, say, an anime dub, though, since Atomic Cartoons is producing the animation in Vancouver.

It’s mostly because of Canadian laws that limit the main Cast to mostly Canadian citizens.

True, in a G5 series, since basically the entire cast of ANG could be considered “guest stars” considering how they didn’t voice their characters after that (except for Sofia Carson doing that Calm app meditation as Pipp). But yeah, good to see

And yeah, I wonder if they just always call her “Ruby Jubilee” so there’s no confusion with Pipp (aka Ruby).

Dear diary: Today I learned there was a High School Musical TV series through a teaser of My Little Pony.

The first guest star in a G5 series, let’s go! Ruby has a nice design. And I wonder if she’ll keep her first name in the French and Italian dubs, as Pipp is also named Ruby in those versions.

Yeah she was shown in the video as choosing a specific design she likes. Also the black coded ponies seem to be heavily based off their vas, like misty and bahia

Funny… Ruby Jubilee looks almost exactly like Sofia Wylie. Was this intentional?
