Going too far in the other direction, typically through a spineless parent that lacks any form of discipline and giving into a childs every demand, can likewise be harmful. This isn’t a comparison between which of these two extremes is worse, a good parent should adapt the level of authority they utilize in accordance with the childs development, when done roughly correctly, we can greatly reduce the rate of traumas and maladaptions in the child. There is a middle ground here

Compare Misty’s personlaity in the show with Opaline as parent who raised her and to Sprout or Diamond Tiara who had unnatentive parents or that spoiled them or even early Glimmer before reformation who still had parents. More evil is raised through apathy and overindulgence

Unrestricted internet access is a genuine problem for those at a young age, I can agree with you on that point. But this isn’t “getting her to appreciate the little things” or to understand the rule of law and authority. If in the future she were to be more appreciative of things like a muffin or a haircut as a result, how permanent could this change really be, and is it really ethical to set the comparison to be literal abuse and malnutrition? I think this is closer to toxic positivity. And on the authority point (which I think is the more impactful), I think she would be more likely to learn a less-effective style of authority compared to a “normal” upbringing. She isn’t getting a balance of following vs. leading here, she’s forced into compliance to an authority with the threat of violence, with minimal agency over her life. This may manifest in either impulsively caving in to any suggestion (maladaptive compliance to authority), or may find herself reactively seeking a similar toxic-authority herself, emulating these behaviours. To what extent these manifest and to what extent they can be improved with treatment is on the table, but this is not a constructive form of parenting, this will lead to problematic behaviours in the future.

Bronies and kids will never understand the contribution that Opaline is providing to Misty’s character and her ability to appreciate small things or respect the law/rules. People think it is good parenting spoiling your kid and letting them do whatever on their iphone is. Reminder that Opaline in her head is the Queen of all life on Equestria, the god basically. Misty ignoring her will is on the level of Adam and Eve frollicking with the Snake or Cain killing Abel. Opaline is dissapointed in someone she spend her divine time raising and someone who will eventually inherit an entire land of MLP to be acting like lower peasants.

I said don’t talk about Opaline like that Opaline, even though everything you say is true. Opaline is a lowly rotund pegasus. What’s worse she’s even pretending to be an alicorn.

Actually, it’s even worse. Probably forgot by now, but Opaline was mad that Misty was late and asked Misty a [rhetorical] question implying an explanation, and when Misty tried saying she was trying her best, then Opaline hit her for “back talking”.
Abuse is never ok, but punishing someone under you for not even wrongdoing, or even trying to be obedient, places a tremendously unstable, stressful strain in that the victim can never be sure if, or when, they might do something wrong.
