It’s been a while since I asked for stories, right? Any stories about stopping a combat without a clear winner and trying a different tactic?

Discord: But what DID you accomplish, exactly? It seems like you just played out an extremely dramatic and explosive stalemate.
Rainbow Dash: Uh, hello?! We got to fire *GIANT LASERS.* That’s a victory in and of itself!
Discord: …I see. Perhaps I am missing out on all the deeply layered subtleties.
DM: When Tirek gets back up, he doesn’t wind up for another attack. Instead, he silently glares, watching to see if you’ll continue.
Twilight Sparkle: I think Twilight does the same landing in front of him and glaring back.
DM: And so the fighting comes to a standstill.
Twilight Sparkle: Had enough, you glorified bully?
Tirek: Perhaps I have. It is not an endless brawl that I crave; I desire victory. But look around. Our battle is laying waste to your homeland. I wonder if you have the appetite to see if burned and broken further.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh, sure, you’re changing things up for MY sake. Gee, thanks.
Tirek: I suppose that answers my question. But the art of war is not limited to the palette of violence, young Princess.
