Even if we gave Opaline the benefit of the doubt that she honestly believes what she’s saying, it’s still manipulation that continues the cycle of abuse. What she is saying is still going to further isolate Misty, keeping her closer to her abuser. Intentionally or otherwise, this simply serves to further the abuse.

We should never try to excuse the actions of an abuser when their abuse is undeniable. It doesn’t matter if the abusers intentions are seemingly good or coherent, the ends they serve prove the behaviour is problematic, in this case the best actions would be those which separate the victim from abuser as this is the quickest way to end the abuse. Opaline’s actions are simply the opposite.

Aw, Misty needs guidance, and Opaline is just trying to be a good mentor for her.

The story was pretty much “God brags about having Job wrapped around his little finger, the “accuser” claims Job will jump ship the minute things go south, Job then gets “vibe checked” until he reaches his breaking point, and when he has the audacity to finally squeal like a pig, God basically shakes him around and says “I’m Rick James, bitch!”

As a fellow artist (in my case, music) I completely understand that feeling. Sometimes I’m just not in a good place mentally to be making stuff. In which case, I take a brake. Other times, it’s a lack of motivation but I keep remembering that this is my purpose, my calling, my reason for being (at least one reason), and whether I feel like doing it or not is not what’s important, I’m going to do it, I have to do it. Other times, it’s all in my head, thinking that what I’m doing is not good enough so I’m going to “wait to get inspired” or something. But this thought is not true at all. Often, I come back to what I’ve written while “uninspired” and it’s pretty damn good. You have to make that judgement call for what you need in the moment. Everyone’s different. Do what works for you. Be kind to yourself. You’re doing great! Much love! <3
