I’ve seen plenty of mysterious pendants too*, but I suppose medallions do have story/intrigue potential, even in non-magical settings, as they tend to be big enough to hide something inside.

*-first one that came to mind was Chrono Trigger, Marle’s pendant.

(… so many stories revolving around pieces of jewelry… I guess I’ll have to learn someday how to make world-ending and world-saving ones too, might be good for business.)

excellent point there, however in my opinion, the term medallion sounds more intriguing then just pendent, makes one more mysterious then it usually seems, like the one in the first Indiana jones movie, that obviously had mysteries of it already.

apparently not, cause as Xinaf said, the necklace is a type of jewelry worn around a neck, where as a medallion is a metal piece that’s hooked ON a necklace

According to stricter definitions:
Medallion - the metal object itself, ‘no strings attached’ ;) A word closely related to ‘medal’
Necklace - strictly speaking, it would be the string, though calling the entire thing, medallion and string together, a necklace would not be unusual. Still, it’s formally more correct to say the medallion is hung on the necklace. In any case ‘a piece of jewelry worn around the neck’ is the usual definition. And it’s the string that is around the neck.
Another word you could use in this context is a pendant - a broader word than medallion, as it includes more varied jewelry, as long as it hangs from a necklace.

(my avatar OC happens to be an artisan, making jewelry among other things, so he might be prone to nerding out about it… please excuse him)

Maybe that, Opaline doesn’t feel like she needs extra authority over Misty. She’s just that meek already. Like the Mane 5 I understand as they’ll oppose her, but Misty? She’s already loyal to her. Best she could do is make her extra subservient to her.

The Ring and Horcrux merely worked by exploiting/amplifying their existing wants and emotions, this seems to just flip their morality.

I think it must be because she doesn’t have a cutie mark or it was made for her and the necklace has a defense mechanism which makes others who wear it “bad”.

Any ideas as to why Misty was seemingly unaffected by it (keeping her personality) while the Mane Five were?

There was another cursed necklace in another fantasy series, that is the Locket of Salazar Slytherin from the Harry Potter series when Lord Voldemort made it a Horcrux. Like the ring of power it makes the wearer selfish and chaotic.
