I like the ‘maybe she did have one in the past’ theory, mostly because it meshes with my personal headcannon for Blueblood. (AKA, it’s not really ‘Auntie’ so much as great-great-great-etc Grandma. She just prefers Auntie cause it makes her feel less old.)

My headcanon is there’s a male alicorn in some kingdom with her name on ‘im, and since alicorn life cycles is long, it typically takes longer to find relationship partners as well. Same proportions of life are spent alone and together, so after 1000 years mmmm lets say Celly is due for a husband. Season 5. Don’t crush my dreams.

Not everyone does, I have seen quite a few that do not.

Simple. She understands it would cause more pain to love. her maternal love for Twilight (We’ll assume alicorn Twi isn’t immortal) and her friends is already straining it, though she probably has already accepted Twilight and her friend’s mortality.

Why does everyone assume Celestia is immortal?  
Maybe she just has a very long life cycle.

Maybe she is afraid of her own children? Consider; Celestias son/daughter are ambitious and want to rule, but they can not take place bcoz his/her mother is immortal. Another problem- find true love. Marrying Queen is a good business ;]  
Another, another problem. Celestia is hundreds years old. Woman can has children only as long as they have ovulation, or… Alicorns are medical experiment of Starswirl, and he didn’t want to procreate them?
