Description

Today’s prompt: Draw a pony facing a mistake from their past / Draw a pony putting the pieces back together.
I gave this one a lot of thought, wondering which side of the prompt I ought to go with. In the end, I decided to chose a moment from Friendship is Magic that fits both criteria: Twilight Sparkle mending her friendship with Moondancer.
Amending Fences was one of the best episodes of Season 5, and even one of my all-time favorite episodes of FiM in general, as Twilight and Spike go back to Canterlot to reestablish contact and friendship with Twi’s old friends in Canterlot, and realizes the effect her sudden departure to Ponyville caused on Moondancer. It never ceases to amaze me how a simple throwaway line at the beginning of the first episode, one that served to establish Twilight as someone who didn’t understand the importance of friendship, could have such a huge impact on a future episode. Now that’s incredible storytelling!
Either way, I decided to go with the big moment of the episode: the heartwarming hug after Twilight apologizes for how poorly she treated Moondancer in leaving so abruptly. We may have only seen Moondancer a couple of times after, but it makes me happy how much happier she became after. =)
