Bug, or feature?
There are a lot of references to the USA in the series, but the appearance of a small town in the desert in the middle of nowhere for some reason immediately became a reference to the USSR. very strange, as for me.
There are a lot of American elements in Equestria, Wayne. Case in point: Manehattan, Fillydelphia, Las Pegasus, Dodge City, etc.
I can imagine the artist must have found it hilarious to reference Tom Brady’s great defeat, during a season where he went almost completely undefeated.
That makes it even better: means Starlight taped the game specifically to annoy Twilight with it months later.
