To a’splain it for those in the class who don’t seem to quite process it yet;
 
In this series, the ponies are post-MMC. Something triggers them to reflect on their switched-cutie-mark selves’ backstory, postulating that since they honestly believed that was their destiny, their minds had given them false memories of how they got them.
 
They use this memory as their cured selves in some small way, such as Applejack making Twilight a scarf.

I have thought it would be neat if Rarity realizes that she can now move clouds around like a pegasus due to remembering how to do it from while she had Rainbow Dash’s cutie mark.
 
Pinkie Pie already knows how to help out on a farm, as long as she isn’t doing it day in and day out. I’m sure she already liked the Apple family, so nothing much new there. (Hmm… perhaps she has memories of being practically adopted by Applejack’s parents when she moved from the rock farm to Ponyville. Oh my, that would be heartwrenching – and would make quite a close tie between herself and Applejack.) Don’t know how Applejack feels about making dresses now.
 
However, I can’t see Fluttershy finding memories of performing for laughs to be anything but terrifying. I’d have to think that in her alternate history she had been faking it for years in an attempt to overcome her natural shyness.

We need more.  
I wish someone would write a long fanfic about this.

Good parts of life, and if nothing else, some of Fluttershy’s animal friends saved her life, in an alternate history at least.

If I could make a stab at interpreting this comic, Dash is saying that she has a lifetime of Fluttershy-like memories, and is really glad that she got the chance to experience the good parts of life with all those animals. So she’s grateful to Fluttershy, and wishes she could repay her for the gift, even though there’s nothing that really needs to or can be done.

Rainbow Dash is a natural guardian and defender, who protects others from danger and tries to inspire them to stand on their own hooves. However, she is less skilled as a gentle caretaker. That is the distinction I had hoped to make.

To be fair, Fluttershy’s cutie mark doesn’t show up well when placed against Rainbow Dash’s color, just by the inherent nature of the color palettes.
 
I had hoped that the cloud shaped outlines and the faded tint would indicate a flashback… better luck next time I guess.

Yes. I have the whole series on my computer. I just didn’t see the change in the flashback/thought-bubble thing, just the fact that Dash and ’Shy had their normal cuties outside it.

Bweh? I just meant that they currently have their normal cutie marks, as opposed to the swapped ones they would have in this revised history.

No it’s the Magical Mystery Cure version of Rainbow Dash with Fluttershy’s cutie mark. An alternate history with alternate memories of how she got the cutie mark. I think the artist has been working on this series for awhile.

This was the hardest one for me to make. Seriously, Rainbow Dash has a pet, how can she not think to feed animals? Unless maybe that wasn’t actually her job in the first place.
