Velvet Wing is a classy gal who specializes in entomology and has been hard at work using her knowledge in an attempt to get Mint Chip over his fear of bugs.
The July event caused a crystalline infection to spread through those attempting to aide the infected in the Crystal Empire - the situation with those trapped behind the quarantine fences hit a little too close to home for her so she flew over the fence to help anyway and she ended up getting infected.

With the event’s end, she gained Earth Affinity/magic and can control the spread of her crystals. This reference was made before the event’s end, but it shows how her infection looks (she is no longer contagious <3). They also look like large freckling now that she has some manner of control.
