I think the does a good job showing us how unique and different the ponies of ponyville are since twilight is for season and some of 2 an audience surrogate. For us like twilight we’d think pinkie’s pinkie sense has a explanation but nope she just like this.

I feel bad for Twilight in this episode. Since she’s new to life in Ponyville, she hasn’t had a chance to understand how Pinkie Sense works, and how everypony else has just accepted it for what it is and doesn’t question it, since what Pinkie’s twitches tell her always come true. She’s a bit more literal-minded, so she wanted to know how and why it worked, but that kind of approach just led her to pain and frustration. There simply is no explanation for why Pinkie is the way she is, and Twilight (and we, the audience) are left to accept that she’s just always meant to be more unique than the average pony.
