Now that the trailers out, the style used in the film are no where near as bad as on the box.  
While I will agree that fanart tends to make them look healthier, this doesn’t mean you should hate the film just because you find it inappealing. Heck, there are some people who think the FIM ponies look horrifying.

Okay, these designs actually look good.
 
I agree with some comments above me… it’s all about a little added chubbiness making the body proportions much more appealing. Also the faces here are less uncanny valley-ish (for lack of a better term).

It is anthro, technically. But I’m fine with it being in the humanized section, since that means I get to see it and comment on it (98% of anthro repulses me, so I filter it out).

Wow, this really shows indirectly what’s really wrong with the Equestria girls art so far. They’re a bit chubbier here, it makes them look better, the proportions are better too, No huge feet here. More importantly, they actually have distinct expression that fit their personnalities.

I think it’s the SANE proportions: here their legs are about mid body height but on >>260054 (the official image) the legs are 2/3rd of the body height. Everything else, save the facial cutie marks, is the same.
