Realized he could be their grandfather, uncle, or some other relation. Father would make the most sense/be best thematically thought.

No parents as decent as he’s supposed to be intentionally lose them, but tragic accidents happen. It’s also possible he only lost her for the few moments it took for Opaline to swoop in.
What I’m curious about is:
  1. Misty seems closer to CMC age than baby (grated we’ve only seen them in TYT, so unsure how they look in MYM), old enough she should have remembered him.
  2. How would he not recognize her at the masquerade (he recognized his girlfriend through hers) and with her mane dyed?

This already subverts Opaline being the reason Misty has no parents (showing the work is not allowed to get so dark as to have the villain successfully kill anyone). So who knows…
What’s the point in speculating given we likely will have answers soon?
