Development art for an upcoming commission. One thing about working with fictional/fantastical creatures and beings is occasionally stumbled upon questions in your mind. Those “Hey if they do this what happens?” moments.
I will be doing a piece that will involve an anthropomorphic Diamond Tiara as a ballerina. Okay not an issue there. The “Hey if they do this what happens?” moment for me occurred to me while doing research today. One of the signature things of Western ballet is that many of moves are perform en pointe or releve on the balls of the feet or the tips of the toes.
However I draw anthro ponies with hooves, and a pony/horse is already walking on their toes normally. So how do you address this point. So I quickly pounded out these sketches and sent them off to the client, and we’ve discussed how we’ll address the matter. Stay tuned to find out what we do.
