Topaz Nebula is a 44 year old pegasus mare who is a Canterlot native, and is the Director for Princess Luna’s astronomy program. Famous in Equestria as the mare that discovered Earth, she was absolutely instrumental in the final decision of the Royal Sisters to make diplomatic ties with Earth, and she is pretty much a household name.
Physically, Topaz is a little smaller than average for an adult pegasus mare, and as a result of her less active lifestyle, she is an average flier at best, with relatively low physical endurance. However, even if she is a little curvier than normal for a pegasus, she is happy with her appearance, and doesn’t pay it any mind. She still retains her youthful good looks, and is quite the desirable and eligible mare.
Widely understood to be very friendly and kind-hearted, Topaz is still an astronomer at the end of the day, and her field of science is her primary focus. This means she can be rather dispassionate and detached while working. Outside of work, she is very social, and has a large circle of friends and acquaintances that she stays in contact with. Additionally, Topaz is known to be polite to a fault and never swears for any reason.
As a result of the human man known as Cain falling through a portal and ending up in Equestria, Princess Celestia started the almost hopeless search for Earth in order to get him home. After Nightmare Moon’s exorcism at the hooves of the Elements of Harmony, Princess Luna took up the program and it’s goals- and this was compounded when other humans began occasionally appearing on Equis.
Both of Topaz’ parents worked in the Royal Astronomy Service, and it was only natural that she would end up there as well, and upon her eighteenth birthday, she too took up the role. Eventually becoming part of the search for Earth, Topaz was the mare that finally, and to much celebration, almost accidentally discovered the cradle of humanity via the use of a magicaly powered radio-telescope array.
Overnight, Topaz had become a celebrity, her achievements lauded by the Princesses, and though initially overwhelmed by the attention, she quickly adapted to the position she now found herself in and within a couple of years, began lobbying for a proper “First Contact” to be established between Equis and Earth- rapidly becoming the de-facto face and voice of the lobbyists.
After a fateful meeting with the rulers of every nation on Equis, Topaz managed to, simply from the sheer passion and belief in her words, convince every delegate there that First Contact would be in the interests of every soul on Equis, and would benefit all species equally. Unilaterally, they all voted to go ahead with it, and the moment that Princess Celestia stepped through a rippling portal outside Ponyville and out of a matching one outside of the United Nations headquarters on Earth- two worlds were changed forever.
When it comes to more personal matters, Topaz Nebula is heterosexual, and though not a true xenophile, does like human men as partners. She is a soft and passionate lover, and adores the very sensual side of things. Massage, touch, and all other kinds of physical affection are the order of the day for her. Though she is currently single, and unlikely to be able to carry a foal of her own at her age, she would like to find a partner and adopt a foal at some point.
