To all those who compared it to G1, you were right.

Still, the Fire Ruby is a single solid jewelry, I recall it was never mentioned as a locket in that episode (After that never seen again). Rainbow of Light is a locket as seen in G1, and then repeatedly said by the Breezie and Sunny, just waiting it to be opened. Remember, it’s a special artifact for “The One”, Fire Ruby is only jewelry, nothing special in the long term. Rainbow of Light however, Megan wear it isn’t just to look pretty.

I instantly know it’s the Rainbow Locket once held by Megan and she kept it safe. Classic G1 artifacts including Grogar’s Bell.
Though Rarity’s jewel is not something in my mind.

Even in the MLP Generations comic, the Rainbow is the ancestor of the Elements of Harmony and Twilight Sparkle is channeling the magic for the Rainbow of Light. Though the Rainbow no longer has a will of its own since Megan is no longer around, so it’s now sealed in the locket and Twilight must use it as a magic item. Though I can’t say for sure what happens after the comic ended, and the fate of the locket is unknown, most likely return it to the G1 ponies.

If it is the locket with the Rainbow of Light from G5, this is overkill, because it contains deadly magic as seen when Tirac was killed. Even Opaline will have big problems in the face of this, and according to the Breezie, only a hopeful pony could use the locket. This suggests Sunny’s element, which is Hope. She could use the locket because her elemental magic allowed this. Hmmm; does that mean Megan from G1 symbolizes hope for the ponies back then?

Either Opaline will be too strong or there will be a much bigger threat that can arise in C6. Perhaps Berrow wants to kill Opaline with the locket, and this could suggest that MYM ends a little too abruptly. Many are upset that MYM will end after just one season.

No, but I should remind you that G4 had some G1 artifacts as well. And let’s not forget that Make Your Mark so far has quite a few G4 artifacts and G1 references. It shouldn’t be out of the question that the legendary magic weapon used to defeat Tirac at Midnight Castle might still play a critical role in some future chapter of Make Your Mark somehow.
