Pet leeches are fed by owners by owners using themselves as food. In fact, it’s recommended in the pet leech community because blood from the owner is most likely to be the healthiest, most nutritious, and best blood for them.
And in case you’re not aware, pet owners often get their leeches from the medical community since leeches are being used in modern medicine, and these are owften the safest and healthiest leeches you can find. They’re even a different breed from wild leeches, bred for medical leeching.

It could, if it were big enough. Leeches have anticoagulants in their saliva which causes the bite wound to not clot properly for a long time (so it’ll just bleed and bleed and bleed).
Likely it’s a lot of wrapping for a small wound like that on purpose. I’ve seen leech owners use towels when they feed their leeches.

It still doesn’t explain the injury because there’s no way a leech did that to her.
