Description
I decided to follow the prompt of cross generations, but in my case, having Gen 5 ponies re-enact a scene from My Little Pony: Movie 2017 where originally Tempest Shadow sings “Open Up Your Eyes” to Princess Twilight Sparkle who is caged.
In the re-enactment version, Sprout is in Tempest Shadow’s place and Sunny is in Twilight’s place. I know Gen 5 is in the same universe as Gen 4 but it’s still a different generation.
Emperor Sprout captures Sunny Starscout and cages her. After the two meet eye to eye, Sprout basically gaslights Sunny and whatnot. I can kind of imagine it being related to unity and Sprout being very jealous of Sunny but also angry that he lost. He breaks into song, “Open Up Your Eyes” and sings it to her. Although in Sprout’s version, some verses would be different to match the situation, because let’s be honest, Sunny and Sprout have known each other since Childhood.

Sort of, yes but at the same time denying it. Sprout here is using his views as a manipulation tactic to make Sunny reconsider. He doesn’t want pity.
So that’s another difference between this and the original version.
Understandable.
Misty may have more similarities to Tempest but this song and scenario is too out of character for her. Misty would never do such a thing or if she did, she would probably fail.
I think one problem is that maybe the tone of the song doesn’t match with Misty
