Which was just what the doctor ordered after a rather mizzly day on field manoeuvres north of the city. If you’re interested, here was the recipe I used for a thoroughly cockle-warming hot toddy that also helped with the slight cold I’ve been successfully ignoring:

Britannia’s Whisky Winter Warmer

Put 1tsp of honey and a measure of whisky in a mug or heatproof glass. Use a lightly flavoured honey so it doesn’t make your toddy taste like cough mixture, because then there’d be no point to the whisky.
Add two cloves and half a cinnamon stick.
Top up with just-off-the-boil water. If you’re using a glass putting a spoon in as you pour the water in will prevent it from cracking.
Stir in a slice of lemon and just enough lemon juice to balance the sweetness of the honey.
Drink while it is still quite hot – it will be more soothing that way but be careful not to burn yourself.
Do not take at the same time as any other medicine. I have that on Royal Medical Service authority.
As we will be featuring this correspondence on the blog I must stress that this recipe is not suitable for foals and that you should only drink alcohol if you are over the legal age for your country or dimensional plane. Particularly when it comes to my Nanny Hogbristle McScone’s own version of this recipe:

an’ so on until either the bottle’s finished or you are.
Formidable mare, she was.

But anyway. Once again, thank you very much for the gift. I should let it be known that it is very much frowned upon to attempt to bribe an Officer of the Princesses’ Peace. But lighthouse keepers like yourself have certainly been doing a sterling job this winter and I think I could bend somepony’s ear over at the palace to make sure a little something extra gets sent your way. Tax-payers bits well spent in my opinion if it keeps our shipping lanes safe and a wider variety of good Trotch in our high-street retailers.
