The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I’d say the one thing above all else about Brad that’s annoying the crap out of me is that he’s probably going to be a flat, lame character who has no reason to exist other than to be Twilight’s friend and/or love interest.

A love interest done well is a character who would be just as interesting if their relationship with the other character was strictly platonic. Look at Ron Stoppable from Kim Possible– near the end of the series he actually became Kim’s love interest, but he had already been a very likeable and interesting character for a plenty long time before that, so his relationship with Kim felt quite natural when it finally happened. They were already whole characters long before they got involved with each other.

When you introduce a character and right off the bat are like “OK, this is the love interest,” what you often times get is a character who just plain is not interesting unless you are a member of the opposite sex and find them hot or whatever.

A good example is Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man. Gwen was Peter’s designated love interest from the getgo, but the problem was that she was the female equivalent of “Brad”: kind, understanding, attractive, and that was about it. Mary Jane on the other hand existed as a character well before she became Pete’s primary love interest, and she had a lot more depth and personality because of it. When the writers introduced her as a means of testing Pete’s relationship with Gwen, it made them realize just how bland a character Gwen actually was, and that’s why they got rid of Gwen.

I could be wrong, and Brad could be a very well developed character who doesn’t even end up being a full-on love interest, but if that’s the case the trailer did an awful job of making him look like anything more than the usual cliche.

Fuck, Brad you better not touch my Twily!!! I’m coming for you, Bro. You better not do anything indecent to her innocent mind.

It’s sort of fake. I think the only time this guy was seen was from the front and he was standing by with Twilight and some other background ponies. So his Cutie Mark is unknown, but some think he might be who the guy in Equestria Girls that Twilight meets is based off of. Or so I’ve heard.
