Ok I hate this ship
It would blow over in a short week. That’s how most of these things I see in MLP happen.
It be either people come to accept it, blindly call it masterpiece, or crumble into disparity. The latter of the two is something the Sonic fanbase would call 06.
personally I welcome this, this kind of outburts means we’re fast approaching the Sonic ‘06 mark, and the crash will hurt but making it through will be so worth it.
If EG turns out to be our Sonic ‘06, recall how things began turning back towards quality afterwards. The worse EG is, the more likely S4 will beat even the first two seasons for consistent quality! And even if it’s just middling like many of us think, the low apathy and lack of interest by even the target demographic might shake up Hasbro enough to leave DHX to their own devices as IDW has been. Next month, there’s nowhere to go but up!
“I’m starting to think I don’t belong in this fandom if that kind of ignorant narrowmindedness is becoming the norm.”
Thank you.
Excuse me, am I reading this right?
He’s the stupid one giving the damn movie a chance?
I’m starting to think I don’t belong in this fandom if that kind of ignorant narrowmindedness is becoming the norm.
Well, I hope you never have an important position where it’s your job to define such things then, else you will wind up giving the rubber stamp to all manner of pure rubbish like a stereotypical tv executive.
When you start talking like that all I’m hearing is
and all I can reply is
See, when you start talking like that, this is all I hear… er… see.
Seriously, it’s like the people bitching about the current Star Trek sequel. Even if it’s TERRIBLE in a lot of ways it has its moments, and there’s really no reason to have such an investment in opposing its existence except to say, “they wasted everyone’s time with this, and stole an opportunity from the fans to make something better! And I’m gonna sit here and complain about it till I’m blue in the face and they pull it, so they can turn around and do everyone WE want them to do! Because it’s OUR show, not THEY’RE show! Even though they’re the ones making it!
Because MLP:FiM didn’t look terrible when the first trailers were aired. This movie does.
There are things that looked good from the beginning, and kept their promises later. Look at the comics, for examples.
I should clarify that I never meant it as such.
That’s fine, but statements like that are why the fighting continues. To some people, it comes off as hostile.
This fandom was built upon giving unlikely things a chance. None of us would be if no one gave Friendship is Magic a chance. Why is hating EQG alright?
I’m not saying everyone has to like it, but at least give it a chance.
Hate it all you want; but unless you give Equestria Girls a chance, you are not a brony.
Absolutist statements like this are why we’re having this drama in the first place. Take it down a notch, buddy.
A Canterlot Wedding had a similar backlash before it’s premiere, yet it’s now a fan favorite.
I’m not saying Equestria Girls will blow us away. I’m not even saying it’ll be good. But, condemning it without ever giving it a chance is the exact opposite of how this fandom began in the first place.
Hate it all you want; but unless you give Equestria Girls a chance, you are not a brony.
Wow, thanks. Now I hate it three times as much.
@Twinhead-B
That’s why I’m so afraid of what a total unwatchable shitbag this will be.
@Erroneous
This forever.
What the fuck does it matter WHAT the subject is? If you prove you can take an anorexic/boring premise and make something out of it while staying in the parameters, why does the subject matter?
For one thing, there’s a popularity contest. Okay, how do you make that NOT suck, or else suck LESS.
1: Lead character loses contest, but it doesn’t matter.
Bam. Cliche in some regards, but serviceable.
2: Lead wins, but contest is severely downplayed as a means to an end. It happens, but in the scheme of things it matters little.
This would naturally lead into Shimmer stealing the crown anyway, and then we get our actual supernatural climax.
3: Contest gets interrupted somehow, never finishes. It happens, and yet it doesn’t. Vampires break into the gymnasium and start reeking havoc.
My point is, there’s room for doubt. They COULD be playing it totally straight and wind up with some boring no surprises plotline with shallow themes. And equally likely, it could throw us for a loop and defy convention with something relatively novel.
Admittedly there’s more evidence for what we DO know than what we DON’T, but never underestimate the scale of what you don’t know.
Besides, one of the most tantalizing rumors I’ve heard is that this thing ends with Twilight being a part-time TEACHER at this school. The crown ends up awakening the inner magic of people and animals across the human world, and sets up the series plot. It might make sense for Twilight to be a teacher of magic.
How kickass would THAT be? Instead of fucking around with student drama, our lead in a high school series is a TEACHER. It’d be like if “Good Morning Miss Bliss” hadn’t been turned into “Saved by the Bell,” only with ponies.
…And? I’m sorry, but that’s the shittiest argument I’ve heard so far. Attending a wedding is a LITTLE different than trying to get popular to become prom queen.
And the OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS for a “A Canterlot Wedding” was that Shining Armor and Cadence (who is literally a pretty, pink princess) were getting married.
Remember how that turned out?
Remember how Meghan McCarthy was the one who wrote that?
Allow me to explain:
The OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS is that Twilight has to become Prom Queen. Yes. I can just tell that this will be SO COMPLETELY AWESOME. Yep.
Source?
No, she’s my Twily! Back off!
