But…Lyra’s talents are jumping, sitting, and drinking soda. Oh, and looking pretty in a bridesmaid dress. CanonLyra is a lot more stereotypically girly than Bons.
 
And if you go by the fanon personalities, then Bons is the dutiful one and Lyra is the lazy one, so it wouldn’t be unusual if she was more knowledgable.
 
Really, the only reason Lyra could possibly fare better at all is because it would suit her fanon personality to be good at useless stuff, like gameshows.

 
This isn’t a racist, anti-earth pony screed. I’m sure some earth ponies are smarter than the majority of unicorns. And as loveable as she is, Sweetie Belle pretty much makes it canon that some unicorns are less intelligent than average earth ponies and pegasi. But seriously, Lyra less intelligent than Bonbon?!?
 
Lyra is a talented musician who has to be able to sheet-read classical music, memorize long, classical scores, and respond to a conductor’s direction on the fly. Bonbon’s talent has been guessed at as confectionery from her cutie mark, but canonically her talents seem to be having a terrible speaking voice, pulling a cart of garbage while gossiping, and being angry all the time. She may indeed be less batshit insane than Lyra, but smarter? Puh-leeze.
