@Astrohippus23
My first impressions with the leaked images were “Get that shit out of here.”
After seeing the movie, “It makes sense in context.”
Yes, I am an avid Tv Tropes reader.
7 years later, Equestria Girls has its own “sub-fandom” that wish it could’ve gone on longer. Interesting how the fandom’s general opinion on a particular topic can do a complete 180 given enough time.
I can agree that the character designs are absurd, but that’s what everyone mad about. Everyone seems to be mad that story is generic/bland, and while that may turn out to be true, we won’t know for sure until June.
You assume that watching the movie is somehow going to change all the things we already know about it. If the design of the models sucks, watching the movie isn’t going to make them more palatable to the eyes. You do have a point sort-of, although every bit of the storyline points to it being boring / predictable / lame, there’s nothing saying that it must be.
Condemning Equestria Girls without ever giving it a chance isn’t right either. The crew at DHX has taken Hasbro’s idiocy and made it enjoyable in the past ( ahem Canterlot Wedding). What could possibly have changed that would prevent from doing the same with EqG?
What annoys me is how a lot of folks assume that the silent majority is exactly like the vocal minority. Let’s face it, practacally everyone is fully aware that we aren’t the target audeince, but it’s a few folks who make a ruckus that make problems for the rest of us. We are simply responding to quality entertainment, and we will, as always, voice our displeasure at terrible entertainment, or our dread at what we fear to be inevitable, terrible entertainment.
I bet you that the vast majority are not looking forwards to the EqG movie, but we also are aware that we can’t do jack shit about it. Just stop lumping us all in with the pshyco nutjob segment of the fandom who make the rest of us queasy. It’s insulting, demeaning, and is much more aggrivationg than EqG will ever be.
eeehh wise word are wise. Personally i’ve already said, i can’t allow unreasoning rage to take the best of me, I’m not 20 anymore and this is not like the fourth series of digimon(burn in hell) or TMNT:TNM (gaahh still hurt! but Venus de milo was an interesting idea, executed poorly, but wiht potential). I’m only saying one last thing. EG will be boring and predictable, funny only for someone who had never watched a disney show about high school, so yeah little girls only(perhaps..but really is a saturated market for high school shows)
And another thing who has more spending power little girls or adult fans? If Hasbro wants to be dumbasses that’s their thing, I’m still enjoying their pony show and I have the right to complain if I want too, of course it has to be rational, sane complaining such as a formal letter of disagreement, but so far the show has been great and this equestria girls looks like it will be good as well. The market of older fans have always existed and are relevant just look at Disney and don’t tell me those are just for kids…
one could argue that fandom has grown considerably since Derpygate, and that while we are not the target audience/demographic majority; we are still a sizable enough group to be at least partially catered to from a corporate perspective. Hence the various pieces of Brony merchandise.
It’s also worth mentioning that because we are the “minority” of MLP’s consumer base, Hasbro will always side with/cater to the parents of children in controversial situations like Derpygate. It’s just the logical choice.
Well, show me some better mathematical evidence than some random-ass pie chart with no numbers. I want some sample sizes, how your info was taken, sales figures… Etc.If you can’t provide that your opinion is as moot as mine. By the way your OC is sexy and that is all I got from your lackluster report. :)
…and of course it’s little girls that are responsible for 30% growth last year, even though all the other girl franchises that Hasbro owns experienced decline?
@Background Pony
Well, that’s capitalism/marketing 101(ish) as the lovely marigold here has elaß*orated for us,
nothing we can really do, so we’d best not worry too much about it.
@Background Pony depress?
It’s just a courteous, if perhaps slightly reprimanding reminder
of decent manners considering our current situation
and history with FiM as a product / Hasbro as their (marginal) customers
It’s not a bad thing, it’s just the status quo.

What are your opinions all these years later?
thats not what everyone is mad at*

That is possibly the best image I’ve seen posted in relation to all this drama. I’m definitely saving it for later use.
Yeah.
But hey, we’ve still got the show ||well… sorta || and IDWQD comic, yays!
I guess dissent isn’t allowed anymore :(
I think the better question would be “Who has more spending power, Adult Fans or Parents who have to put up with the constant whining?”
“it may look like shit to you but it’s not meant for you”?
Evidence is everything in the world of Phoenix Wright, and this guy seems to follow this rule to a T as well.

Be that as it may, it’s still someone telling you your opinion hardly matters. Even if it’s just considering a franchise.
