Yep, they just don’t always use it. And tbh it reminds me of how people IRL call each other by first names or nicknames (even though I doubt ‘Sparkeroni’ works like our surnames lol). My family for example, uses only short form of my real name, nothing else. It’s simply faster and perhaps also highlights the love you have for someone, and you being close (and ponies are Sparky’s family).
‘Sparkeroni’ could be used in serious situations for example if ponies were to give him life lesson when he gets slightly older…
