I’m sure they know we really enjoy the show. If they think that fathers who pay for their children who watch the show also create tons of content, go to hundreds of different cons, and watch the show even without their children (If they even have children) then they must not be as smart as I thought. I’m sure they know we genuinely enjoy the show.

I’ll agree that Hasbro only cares about bronies to the degree that the money they get outweigh any bad publicity (which, so far, has been surprisingly little). But most of the folks at DHX genuinely like bronies; it’s obvious from their interactions with the fandom and with their many con appearances. However, they do have to put the primary MLP:FiM audience first and foremost when making episodes.

Animation enthusiasts? What do you mean by– Oh hey! Someone’s selling a collection of silent stop-motion cartoons! BRB…

The media for the most part has had mixed moments/opinions on bronies, true. I know about the Fox News thing, but what most fans didn’t realize was, (when they go off on their “Fox”-hatred) is that it was really just one guy who had his own show on Fox News giving his opinion on bronies. (So it’s not like Fox or all news networks hates us.) Still other sites, and news sources have been better, and even Fox News had a more neutral bit about “bronies” once after what that guy said, I remember. So it’s not like everyone is “against” bronies, and that we’re being oppressed constantly.

Actually, quite a few of them know some bronies are just animation enthusiasts. (AKA “nerds.”) So you’re just jumping to assumptions, and conclusions due to your own personal biases against Hasbro & DHX it seems like to me.

I don’t think McCarthy is getting “rich” off the show… She doesn’t have that much “ownership” over it. She’s just a story editor, and story writer.

I’m not going to say they don’t “care” (and I use the term tentatively), but Hasbro and DHX care more of what the “tentative media” (News, etc.) think about them than what we do, and when the media starts painting us like Buffalo Bill they’re going to go “We knew that all along”.

As far as they’re concerned, in my opinion, “Bronies” translated to them as “Fathers who pay for their children watching the show” than “Fans who really enjoy the show and have their own opinions about it”.

McCarthy’d keep smiling as long as she gets paid for it.

Yeah, I also recall Hasbro’s official response to the brony fandom awhile back was, “We don’t understand it, but we love it.” So they seem accepting to. (Yet, some fans still try to paint them, and DHX as “evil,” which I think is kinda like “biting the hand,” so to speak. Reminds me of Sonic fans who want to bash/protest/overthrow Sega.)

@Beau Skunky
Of course, No matter how big the brony fandom is, it’s the kids who come first. But I do believe that the crew enjoy working on the show and enjoy the bronies as well.

I’d have to disagree, from what I’ve seen of Meghan’s, Sibsy’s, Tara Strong’s, and many others who work on the show’s interactions with fans young, or old, I think they’re very accepting of bronies for the most part, and are very passionate about the show, and want it to be good for both youngsters, and bronies. (Just don’t forget who the target audience is.)

It’s marketing. It’s all about marketing. I don’t think for a second we’re anything more to them than a bunch of sideshows. I have a feeling Hasbro’s whole “acknowledgement” of us is more of a “well-hidden embarrassment” if anything else.

To them we’re a bunch of weirdos with full pockets. I’m not optimistic of any thought of the MLP:FiM staff or the Hasbro higher ups actually thinking: “Let’s make the episode a little more inclined to the Bronies AND the kids”.

Save for the IDW publications, the developments that have occurred in the last few months have been pointing in a direction that measures up to my initial assumption of their attitude towards us.

Lauren Faust may have been accepting, but I doubt any one of the other writers look at us as more than what I described. Feel free to disagree, but we’re not someone to impress. We’re bottom line and they couldn’t care less if bronies just aren’t going for them anymore.

@SpikeSpiegel
Ok…lol I don’t even know how to respond to this. You do realize all the stuff they have done right? I doubt hasbro would waste money making collectable toys or waste money to continue the show for a group of people they hate. And I doubt the voice actors would spend their time at conventions or go out of their way to do all the things they do for bronies if they were just a nuisance.

I’m just saying, mate. As much as I want to believe writers “do it for the praise”, at the end of the day their whole shtick is “I want money”. Meghan McCarthy and the DHX people are no better or worse, and I think no one’s foolish enough in the company or Hasbro itself to think of the Bronies as a priority over a ten percent increase in their paycheck.

We’re not second fiddle to either party with influence on the work; I doubt they even look at us as anything more than a double nuisance.

Someone should draw Meghan McCarthy rolling in money saying:

“Fans? I got dough!”

Because everyone knows that’s what she thinks, even if she doesn’t say it.
