Makes sense. I mean what stupid vampire would just stand there and let you hammer a stake into him?
What many people forget, or never knew, is that the wooden stake wasn’t originally intended to kill vampires - as you say, it’s not like it only kills vampires. It was intended to prevent vampires - you staked a corpse so it wouldn’t come back.
Reminds me of a joke from Hotel Transylvania.
