YMMV and all– if you’re predisposed to disliking Anderson’s work (for whatever reason) or the IDW comics in general it’s unlikely to change your mind about any of it– but Manehattan Mysteries was pretty good; the anachro-tech was kind of jarring, but the character interactions were entertaining and it was nice to see a broad variety of reactions towards Trixie’s claims of going straight instead of a unified front. The Celestia/Spike issue of Friends Forever was very well regarded overall (coming as it did several months before Anderson outed himself as a douchebag supporter), and I really liked the Rainbow Dash/Spitfire and Applejack/Fluttershy teamups as well. I didn’t really care for the Twilight/Big Macintosh issue myself, but it seems to have been fairly popular among people who didn’t already have any bias flags planted.

I don’t think anyone will read this…. because the cover alone will be enough to kill them.

Retailer Incentive covers are only sent out if a comic shop (or other retailer like a book store ot website) orders a certain number of copies of a given issue. If a store orders 25 copies, for example, one of them will be an RI cover; if they order 50, two of them will be RI, and so on; if a store orders a huge amount of copies, they can commission their own special cover just for their store, which is why you sometimes see things like Hot Topic Exclusive or Larry’s Jetpack Comics Exclusive covers.

Those don’t appear to be sword blades, but gemstones. Note the gemstones in the baby bottles, as well. Apparently baby dragons are nursed on gem-juice, whatever that is.

“Retailer Incentive” copy. They have a smaller print run than the main covers. They usually aren’t hard to get. TFAW sells them at the same price as regular covers, though they may sell out faster.

For someone who has never paid any attention to the comics before this one was announced, what does the “RI” cover mean and who do I have to give all of my money/internal organs to in order to make one copy of this wonderful vision of what the series could have done my own?

I dunno, sword/pacifiers just seems like asking for trouble to me. : /
