True, but investigating white collar crime needs a somewhat different skillset to investigating murder - while crimes of passion probably aren’t as serious in Equestria (and tend to be somewhat more obvious in who did it too).

Even Utopias with little organized and street crime would still have white collared crime and crimes of passion. To lack either of these suggest a dystopian level of indoctrination.

Derpy, to me, is basically Adrian Monk from ‘Monk’. Only without any actual murders occuring… pretty much anywhere in Equestria… work has been, shall we say, slow.
 
All she needs is a pony to die horribly and she’ll be able to tell you exactly what went wrong!
