Yeah I was really surprised when the movie and season 4 came out. Because after season 3 a LONG time nothing happened. But I was happy about it, because the producers finally realised, that it is much cooler if (mild spoiler, maybe you wanna find out for yourself) the unicorns can talk.
To answer your question: I also don’t remember, that there was any sugar cube feeding, but I’m pretty sure, that Mia brushed Onchaos mane at some point. I think, it was in the movie.
One more thing: If you wanna watch it, I recommend to skip the IRL part of the show, because it’s boring and 99% irrelevant for the animated part.

Pretty much what superpony1 said, it’s nowhere as good as G4 or even G5 MLP. The focus is on human-like characters, not equines. The main protagonist is a human girl Mia who can cross to the unicorn world, so her role is rather similar to Megan Williams in G1/G2 MLP.

I watched all MaM episodes (and the movie) and liked it. The show has lots of cute unicorns, but that’s all. To be honest the story is quiet lame, because it’s pretty much the same in every season: The protagonists have to collect parts of some sort of super-weapon and than they defeat the bad guys.
