You made an interesting idea go through my head. An episode where Gilda returns, possibly a recruit of the Shadowbolts. For most of the episode the two are racing each other and constantly bickering, until closer to the end when Gilda reveals that she just wants forgiveness.
I would like it if Gilda’s return is Gilda wanting to be a wonderbolt alongside Rainbow Dash, even though they are formally always been pegasi by tradition.
It would fit thematically with Gilda’s theme of screwing the rules, but also show a big return of how much she wants to be alongside Dash.

Besides, I think I saw somewhere that she seems a bit crap at flying… could’ve been fake though. <=/
Well unicorns can’t fly in the first place so it wouldn’t really matter. Hell, even Twilight can’t maintain self levitation for too long with her uber strong magic and that can’t even be compared to the flying skills of a pegasus. Luckily she got wings now at least.
