The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Oh my god, it just hit me. Amy Keating Rogers originally wrote a rap song for Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo to sing. That song never saw the light of day.

Cut to a few seasons later to Season 4 Episode 21 ‘Testing Testing 1, 2, 3’ had Pinkie Pie sing a rap song. And that episode was written by Amy Keating Rogers.

Guess good ideas never die, huh?

He really isn’t that bad, his old mixtapes are awesome, but haha yeah that song isn’t exactly Shakespeare, but it’s not supposed to be super deep. I just wish bronies would listen to Lil Wayne, Kanye, Kid Cudi and actually give them a chance by listening to more than just one song, instead of dismissing just because it’s rap/hip-hop.

I like Kanye a lot too… on his own albums. His guest verses are laughably bad at best, and Birthday Song stands out as the worst thing he’s ever contributed to. I have a special hate for that song because I had annoying roommates quoting “All I want for my birthday is a big booty ho” ad nauseum, and I became the bad guy for telling them to stop. Which means I despise 2Chainz too.

I’ve gotten flak for listening to critics, and I suppose I should do it less, but then again I never would have found the artists I mentioned in my last post if I hadn’t found people who can wade through the shit and find these nuggets for me. I think that’s the reason I’m not as jaded as I could be; I found a way not to get exposed to the worst of entertainment.

I’m trying to find a kind of metal that I like, too. It bugs me when singers torture their voice to get it unnaturally low or high. So far the closest thing I’ve found to metal I like is Wolfmother and Queens of the Stone Age, and I dunno how much they even count as metal bands.

But the problem is, in my opinion is that bronies are just exposed to the very worst examples of rap. I’m into mainstream rap like Young Jeezy and Waka Flocka because they make good beats and party music. People just can’t understand that sex, and drugs are a common theme in Rap and that goes for all rappers, it’s just the way it is, and some people just can’t get over that. I respect your opinion though, it just sucks being in the minority of a fandom that looks down on people like me, also relating to when I say that I’m into sports

I’ve listened to alot of rap over the years…I haven’t found really anyone that sings about anything else other then what I mentioned before, but if they don’t they soon resort to it…after years of this,my opinion has been colored by this. Now listening to even the generic tempo/beat of rap makes me ill…

Also,it’s not just bronies…alot of other people hate rap for the exact same reasons that are not fans of MLP…and sadly there is a very loud fanbase of rap…that are young white people that think swearing and smoking weed and hitting their mother makes them cool. I’m not say that’s all of the fans of rap, there is just sadly a very vocal part of the fanbase…

I understand why some don’t like metal,it’s to loud,to fast, impossible to understand what’s being said, etc.

I don’t like generic metal that’s all “GRUNT GRUNT URR WOHH WURR!”

Power Metal actually allows me to hear the lyrics, one of the most important part of the song. Though I’m not against some rock, symphonic or classical from time to time. Just prefer the stuff I can swing a sword to cause I game alot while I listen. Each to their own.

It sucks, I love 2 Chainz, ASAP Rocky, Meek Mill, and Kanye, but 99% of bronies hate on rap when they never hear it for themselves. For example, hating on Lil Wayne without listening to this earlier mixtapes. Most bronies listen to metal and that shit that i can’t stand, but I don’t hate on it because i don’t know enough of the genre

Yeah, but that’s exactly the problem. This is but a small % of the OCEANS of crap you have to get to these. I’ve never found these songs probably due to the fact that I gave up on rap years ago trying to find something that didn’t involve what I mentioned already.

It is true that there are some good love songs, but they suffer from the same deal that rap does. Surrounded by so much crap that you need to dig through so much of it to find the few shining diamonds underneath…

I’m at least glad that someone found some rap that’s actually about something else besides the go to safe zone. I probably won’t go back to rap seeing as I abandoned that ship years ago and have no interest in trying that cruise again.

Especially since I found a boat that I enjoy alot better then ANY other genre of music yet.

Power Metal. HOLY SHIT,I CAN HEAR THE ACTUAL WORDS OF THE SONG! None of this illegible grunting shit,I can appreciate the song for the words AND the music itself! WOO Blind Guardian, Falconer and others!

Hokay, let’s see what I can come up with off the top of my head, shall we?

“Ill Mind of Hopsin 5” by Hopsin is a lambasting of everything that’s wrong with the urban youth of today.

“Bitch Bad” by Lupe Fiasco is about the poisonous nature of the word “bitch” and how trying to repurpose it as a compliment is an exercise in futility.

“Swimming Pools (Drank)” by Kendrick Lamar is about the artist’s alcoholism due to peer pressure.

“good kid” by Kendrick Lamar is about his background in Compton being harassed and bullied both by the local gangs and the LAPD.

“Runaway” by Kanye West is a confession about how he’s been a horrible boyfriend.

“Ends” and “What It’s Like” by Everlast are laments about the poor life.

“New Day” by Jay-Z and Kanye West is about the two of them worrying about how they’d fail as fathers.

“Superstar” by Lupe Fiasco is about how grateful he is for the limelight and how much he appreciates his fans… I think. It also ties into a concept album I haven’t really decoded yet.

“Ms. Jackson” by Outkast runs through a wide spectrum of emotions felt by a man who accidentally impregnated his girlfriend and vowed to stay by her side.

I have only been listening to rap music for eighteen months. I’ve only barely scratched the surface of the genre, mostly picking and choosing artists on occasion, and I was still able to come up with this many examples to prove you wrong.

Granted, all of those trends you mentioned are really annoying and way too prevalent in the mainstream, but that’s not the whole of it, much like there are actually quite a few ways to make love songs interesting that most musicians don’t really take advantage of.
Background Pony #BC0F
I have the same opinoin about it as Rpground.

I had the idea most raps in the eighties and early nineties were better than all the blingbling semi criminals.
I was raised with Run Dmc and Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

Correction, rap is crap unless its about something else besides women, whores, more whores, guns, money, drugs, more whores, ghetto,or selling yourself as a bigshot when you really arent.

And how many songs aren’t about one of the mentioned above? …Well…I can’t think of a single one,it’s like love songs. They’re all the same thing. Bloody woo…
