Eh that doesn’t work for me at all.
I don’t really see how you can square his position in the Wonderbolts with a lack of drive. By all indications it’s a volunteer force with rather high entry standards and a very demanding work load. It’s like the polar opposite of what someone with an actual slacker bent would seek out. Then you add in that he, by all indications, has attained a high position within the team and it makes even less sense.
I think he just confident, but not a dick about his position. Much like how many elite professionals in reality are actually rather laid back and humble. They KNOW they’re good, so they don’t need to strut and brag about it. I think actually Rainbow’s constant attention seeking behavior and overly aggressive need to show off is immature behavior that really needs to be weeded out not played into.
Looked at that way he’s actually a good fit for someone to teach her how to balance drive with not being an obnoxious prick. (Which let’s be honest Dash has clearly struggled with at times) Still opinions, assholes, etc we all have our ships we do or don’t like for various reasons.
I actually see Soarindash the same way. The way he talks and acts seems like he enjoys ‘vegging out’ so when he’s not performing he’s probably totally shut down. So Soarindash would wind up working out like Mordedash once the idol worship wore off.
Eh I actually think it makes WAY more sense, still probably wouldn’t work out, but still makes FAR more sense. I can absolutely see them bumming around all day playing video games and doing nothing productive. They certainly share a love of procrastination regarding their work, and are almost suicidally loyal to their friends.
Still mordecai is ultimately a bit too laid back for her I think. He doesn’t actively go looking to do crazy things to do and he’s probably too mellow to keep her interested. Still I could at least see them liking each other enough to be pretty good friends, which is more then I can say for him and Twilight.
I’ve seen weird crossover ships. This is definitely one of the weirder. Especially when it looks like Twilight’s going to go all Amanada Bynes on Rainbow’s face.

At least there’s a smiiiiiidgeon more sense. Until she realises Mordecai can’t fly (or I don’t remember him flying anyway) and drops him like a Tom.
Then she flies off to date Brooklyn because SOMEONE has to date that poor bastard!
