You make a lot of great points, and i agree. And i would’ve loved to see Trixie start to become friends with the Mane Six over time, independent of what Starlight is doing. Especially learn to get along with Twilight, & vise versa, in a rivals-to-friends arc. Even seeing Trixie write a letter to Princess Celestia about a lesson she’d learned, would’ve been great.
i wonder if the writers might’ve been going for a tough sisterly-love dynamic in later episodes, like the occasional banter between the Royal Sisters. But it didn’t have the same love or warmth underneath. In the former, Twilight & Trixie hadn’t truly “made up,” but in the latter case Princess Celestia spends time with & supports Luna herself, even blaming herself for her sister’s banishment.
(You could point to “A Royal Problem” as evidence to the contrary. but given how much the two have to spend time apart bc of their duties, their misunderstandings make more sense, and are resolved). I just haven’t seen enough of this kind of mutual support between Trixie & Twilight to get behind this, if that’s what the writers were going for.

Trixie had an absurd amount of wasted potential and it still greatly disappoints me to this day. They sat on her character for years before finally doing something with her. And I hate to sound spoiled, but even then it wasn’t enough.
Even after her return in S6 she was used rarely. You’d think they’d better utilize a character that’s been around since the 2009 show bible, but she doesn’t even appear in half the amount of episodes Starlight does, it felt like a giant slap in the face to Trixie fans.
They could’ve dived deeper into her insecurities that they barely touched upon in No Second Prances about her desperately wanting friends to the point of her nearly offing herself because she thought she lost her first and only friend. But they barely expanded upon her character after this, just turning her into Starlight’s sidekick and only appearing when she does.
And not to mention the purple elephant (or rather giraffe) in the room, I hate that Trixie and Twilight never really made up, they had them “make amends” twice, once in Magic Duel, and the second time in NSP, both of which were pointless because right after this episode they’re back to being petty grudge holding brats, see the beginning of To Change A Changeling.
As someone who always wanted Trixie and the Mane 6 to become friends, this really irked me personally. This is probably going to sound like jealousy, but seeing Stariight get everything that I wish Trixie would’ve gotten while she was instead thrown in the dirt and basically left on the backburner almost felt like it was done out of spite.

i feel like after No Second Prances, Trixie got shafted as Starlight’s #1 & it became Twilight. Trixie was reduced to an immature yet endearing friend for Starlight to babysit.
i wanted to see more closure from that Episode than just a quick little hug. When the S6 finale arrived, there were bits and pieces that seemed to build off the character arc she was going through. One being Trixie’s courage when sacrificing herself to the swarm, in contrast to covering her face mid-air, or her “Where’s Twilight???” panicked line.
And then she handled the whole VP / Guidance Counselor position thing immaturely (“Wink!”), and made Starlight look like she was more putting up with her than anything, which was disappointing as a place for her arc to wrap up. Stuck in this Guidance counselor position that feels so disconnected from her stage-performer life, and that’s it. So much more could have been done with her character.
(The stage-performance life, though, is very on-the-road, always moving from place to place & not getting too close to or connected to anyone in particular. Briefly filling the lonely space inside with the excitement of performing for others again, before returning when everyone’s left. So becoming a Guidance counselor would help her build roots and live in one area more. Plus her passion for Wow!ing others, could help her motivate students who struggled with confidence issues or were confused or feeling lost. Just never personally liked the “School of Friendship” much, which may have biased my opinion on Trixie’s character ending up there after everything.)
