I don’t remember. This was around twenty years ago, give or take.
As a CV fan myself, can I ask what this arcade version was? Was it the “Play Choice” one that was a port of the home/NES game, or a different one?
The arcade version was the first Castlevania game I ever played.
You and me both, man.
I never played Castlevania before, so I had no idea of who the moron in goggles was… then one day I saw the arcade version (yes, there is one), looked at the musclebound, sleeveless black-haired tough-as-nails mega-macho on the screen and said “Simon was supposed to be THIS?”
I won’t go over what I said when I first saw true MegaMan on my home console… suffice to say, my reaction was more or less the same.
Well, most of the episodes featured some original songs to. They also had to edit some songs out SMB3 like “Girls Just Want to have Fun.”
Also, li’l trivia. The voices of Twilight Sparkle, Tara Strong (credited by her maiden name “Tara Charondoff”) and Rarity (credited as “Paulina Gillis,” an alias of her’s) also voiced Koopalings in SMB3.
And yes, “Pilot Suit” Simon was just all wrong on so many levels. It’s like they knew nothing about Castlevania, or some other games. (Granted some weren’t “fleshed-out” yet.)
sure, the plot wasn’t that bad, but Megaman, Pit and Simon looked like parodies.
Particularly Simon, given that most Belmont are black-haired, tough as nails and look like they have Conan’s blood in their DNA, while the cartoon Simon looks like a moronic faux action hero.
Megaman being a strongman rather than a blaster and having a silly catchphrase was not exactly nice either.
